Customer: A leading Indian brewery with an installed capacity of 10 lakh hectolitres (approx.) operates one of the finest canning and bottling lines in the world where equipment reliability and process efficiency are critical to maintaining product quality and throughput.
In brewery operations, thorough cleaning of glass bottles is essential to ensure product quality, hygiene, and brand integrity. This critical process is carried out in industrial bottle washer machines, where gearboxes play a key role in delivering synchronized and precise motion, enabling bottles to pass seamlessly through various cleaning stages such as soaking, jetting, and rinsing. These worm gearbox-driven systems are designed to handle high torque, ensure accurate positioning of bottle pockets under spray nozzles, and operate smoothly across varying speeds.
Customer was using an OEM-recommended gear oil; however, the Maintenance team realised the need for a more responsive supplier who could provide a cost-effective solution without compromising performance and reliability.
Operating conditions:
High Reduction Ratio (~15:1), resulting in elevated torque and high sliding friction.
Temperature - 42°C
Oil drain interval period: 1 year (approx.)
No. of equipment -1
Total no. of gearboxes- 6

Industrial bottle washer application with Berusynth EP 1000
Product recommendation:
Given the operating conditions and the inherent sliding nature of worm gears, which lead to significant frictional heat losses, BECHEM team recommended Berusynth EP 1000, a polyglycol-based gear oil for enhanced efficiency and thermal stability. The specifications also matched the OE recommendations for the gearbox
Trial observations and result:
With Berusynth EP 1000, gearboxes demonstrated stable and reliable performance, till the oil drain activity was conducted in the next year. The gearbox operation remained smooth and consistent, with no rise in temperatures or abnormal wear.
Based on the smooth and consistent operation of gear boxes throughout the year, the maintenance team was satisfied and switched over to Berusynth EP 1000
