Noise Dampening Greases

Undesirable squeaks and rattles caused by vibration in operational conditions is a common problem faced by auto and component manufacturers.

Undesirable squeaks and rattles caused by vibration in operational conditions is a common problem faced by auto and component manufacturers. The degree of noise dampening is influenced by selecting a lubricant that combines the appropriate base oil viscosity and thickener system to create the desired shear resistance, reduce stick slip and the resulting noise.

Damping vibrations and optimising friction values are critical for reducing undesired noises. BECHEM’s range of noise damping lubricants for interior automotive components allow controlled movements consistently and significantly improve driving comfort. These noise dampening lubricants ensure a thick, high resistance film to cushion excessive movement and significantly reduce noise level.

BECHEM’s range of noise dampening greases

Berulub XP 3000

Synthetic grease with good noise dampening properties for friction partners of metal, plastic and elastomer materials. The highly adhesive XP 3000 provides consistent separating film between contact partners, thereby reducing friction and wear. The active grease has good low temperature behaviour and prevents stick slip phenomenon.

Applications: Recommended for friction partners in interior automotive components such as locking systems, sunroofs, seat adjustments, central consoles, arm rests etc.

Noise dampening kit

The kit contains carefully selected lubricants for specific interior automotive components of super premium cars that are prone to rattle and squeak over a period of time and operation. The ‘noise dampening kit’ is an outcome of a joint project by BECHEM in addressing the challenge of ‘undesired cabin noise’ faced by a premium car manufacturer. The selected noise dampening lubricants in the form of greases, sprays, fluids and cleaning agents have wide operating temperatures and compatible with almost all materials such as plastics, sealings, non-ferrous metals, leather etc. These special lubricants provide long term lubrication whilst insulating the contact surfaces from dust, humidity etc.

Applications: Examples of application include check arms, hinges, sunroof, ventillation flaps, switches, door & window sealings and head rests etc.

Reliability through speciality

Lubricant characteristics vital for the smooth functioning of critical automotive components include,

Wide service temperature range
Automotive vehicles need to operate effortlessly in sub zero environments as well hot sweltering conditions. Correspondingly, the lubricants used in various critical automotive components also need to perform in extreme temperatures

Material compatibility
At high temperatures, plastic composites tend to diffuse and lose their inherent characteristics by borrowing from or combining with ingredients of contacting surface or lubricating medium. Migration of the lubricant molecules inside the plastic composite result in the undesired affects of swelling and softening of plastic material

Electrical compatibility
Modern day automobiles contain host of electrical components such as motors, actuators and switches. These components also contain moving surfaces and need to be lubricated to avoid severe electric arc formation and jaded surfaces

Durability and corrosion protection
The lubricant has to form a protective film around the contacting surfaces and prevent corrosion and wear against the odds of water, dirt and varying loads.

Noise dampening ability
Undesirable squeaks and rattles caused by vibration in operational condition is a common problem faced by auto and component manufacturers in spite of good design. These squeaks can be muted by use of specialized automotive lubricants.

Life time lubrication
In many automotive applications intermittent lubrication is not possible, the lubricant will have to maintain its composition until lifetime of the component

Environmental compatibility
Lubricant should be devoid of heavy and toxic metals.
