RING FRAME SPINDLE

The comber gear box operates under high specific loads with various combinations like spur, helical, double helical gears etc. Temperature rise, gear wear out due to inadequate lubrication are high possibilities during regular operation. The lubricant plays a critical role in ensuring breakdown free operation of the comber gear box.

The comber gear oil should possess superior anti wear additives to protect the gear teeth that operate under high loads. In order to maintain the necessary lubrication film between contact partners at higher temperatures, the lubricant should have good viscosity index. Metallurgy of the gear box set up is diverse with presence of phosphor bronze, steel and white metal bushes, the lubricant should be compatible with these metal pairings. The lubricant should also be able to inert to possible entry of cotton fluff and inhibit foam formation.

BECHEM recommends the Berusynth GP range of synthetic oils for the application of comber gear box that provides high strength film for contact surfaces and does not rupture under high loads.

Berusynth GP 150
Berusynth GP 150 is high performance synthetic gear and circulation oil with EP additives for gearboxes running under high mechanical or thermal loads. Possessing excellent oxidation stability and shear resistance, extended oil changing intervals can be achieved with Berusynth GP 150.

This synthetic lubricant with high viscosity index is recommended for spur, conical and worm gears used in textile mills, winches, cranes and conveyors. With wide service temperature range, Berusynth GP 150 can be used in gear boxes and circulation systems that operate continuously in temperatures above 100˚C as well as mechanisms that operate in freezing conditions. Also, Berusynth GP 150 does not react with mineral oil resistant seal material or machine paints.

Applications: The product is recommended for application in textile industry in Comber headstock gearbox as well as Dobby gearbox of loom. ‘Berusynth GP 150’ is approved by ‘M/s. LMW’ for high speed motors.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A grease with low base oil viscosity (between 15 cst to 20 cst) and effectively controlled solid particle size plays a major role in reduction of operating temperatures of top roll end bushes, especially at high drawing speeds of over 500 metres per minute.

A grease with low base oil viscosity (between 15 cst to 20 cst) and effectively controlled solid particle size plays a major role in reduction of operating temperatures of top roll end bushes, especially at high drawing speeds of over 500 metres per minute.

In lubrication engineering, the base oil viscosity should be lower with increasing speeds. Jockey pulley bearings fall under high speed category (6500 rpm to 7500 rpm for a spindle speed of 19,500 rpm to 22,500 rpm). The base oil viscosity of regular greases typically used in the Spinning industry varies between 120 cst to 160 cst for the application. Considering the high speed of bearings, the viscosity is excessive for the application and the primary reason for power surge after the re-greasing process.

BECHEM recommends a low base oil viscosity grease (between 15 cst to 25 cst) in minimizing the internal friction whilst maintaining the desired lubricant film and thereby eliminating the power surge after re-greasing process.
